    You think it is already the right time to nominate them? – Angelo Fuchs Dec 11 '14 at 13:43

    @AngeloFuchs I think it's the right time to bring it up, so that people who might want to nominate themselves can start preparing. – fredley Dec 11 '14 at 13:48
  • @TomMedley Is there an example nomination form? – Mooseman Dec 11 '14 at 13:48
  • @Mooseman Take a look at nomination posts from other beta sites. – fredley Dec 11 '14 at 13:51
  • @Mooseman have a look at the one on SR: meta.softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/67/… – Angelo Fuchs Dec 11 '14 at 13:51
  • @AngeloFuchs Thanks! – Mooseman Dec 11 '14 at 14:16
  • I think we should have them in 2-4 months – The Idiot Gamer Dec 11 '14 at 23:49
  • @The Are you kidding?! Pro-tems are appointed max in two-three weeks are the site was launched. e.g. Economics, Emacs – nicael Dec 12 '14 at 12:42
  • @The Also, Wordbuilding, Startups, Community Building, HSM. – nicael Dec 12 '14 at 12:50
  • I think this is to soon, this is like saying that you know for sure this will make it out of beta. The answers are poor quality and its not looking like a high quality Q&A site right now. – Pobrecita Dec 12 '14 at 21:32
  • @iliveunderawesomerock The answers are mostly pretty good to be honest, scope is the problem, not lack of answers. – fredley Dec 12 '14 at 22:31
  • @TomMedley The answers don't seem that good to me, research is basically null and void. – Pobrecita Dec 12 '14 at 22:33

As can be read from the link supplied in the question, 7 days in, someone from SE will initiate the seeking of Pro Temp Moderators:

About a week into the public beta, we will seek out members who are deeply engaged in the community’s development;

I believe we should wait for that meta-post instead of jumping the gun... A lot can change in these first few days of the beta.

  • Agreed. This should be handled solely by the SE community team. – Mooseman Dec 11 '14 at 14:43

    There's no reason a community member can't initiate the process. SE will just use the community's nomination thread instead of creating their own. – Undo Dec 11 '14 at 23:27
  • @Undo isn't the period of about a week used to make sure members participating are 'settled' in the new SE? This to ensure only active/participating/experienced-in-the-field members are chosen? That's why I wanted to wait some more anyway... – RichardBernards Dec 12 '14 at 6:49
